Mission
CEWA's mission is to work for the advancement of under privileged children in India. We sponsor the tuition and educational activities of students who seek to complete high school or a vocational diploma. Our assistance is provided through scholarships, computer hardware and software, and science clubs. Our organization is non-sectarian and attempts to foster economic self-sufficiency and learning through education and training.
Activities and Operational Information
The purpose of this association is to sponsor children whose parents cannot afford tuition fees for primary to high school education. The ages of the sponsored children can range from 4 to 20. Inability to provide for a child's education will be the sole criterion for selecting recipients. The children will be located in India and local social organizations will be relied on to locate students. Many of these social organizations are well intentioned, but lack funding. CEWA will provide a reliable source for funding scholarships on an annual basis. The president will manage the relationship between the CEWA and the local social organizations.
Each sponsored student's record of his/her education will be monitored. This information will be published on a web page and will include details such as name, age, address, annual tuition fees, parent's names, parent's occupations, and other relevant information. The web page will be kept current by the president. This activity will take approximately 40% of the association's time.
All fund raising will be done on the Internet. The initial list of donors will include a list of about 50 friends and relatives. Mailings will be made once or twice a year. Each donor will be provided with the URL address of a web page describing the sponsored student's activities. A donor can sponsor one or more students. A relationship between the student and the donor will be established through the Internet. These activities will be performed by the President and Vice-President and should consume about 30% of the association's time.
The Board will manage the budget. Funds will be collected from donors and maintained in a US based credit union account. The President will manage the distribution of funds to local social organizations. This information will be maintained on a web page. The president and vice-president will file the tax return for the association. This activity will consume about 30% of the association's time.
