September 15th: Awarded scholarships to 17 students from the Chaitanya Yuvathiyara Sangha in Jaynagar.
August 4th: Received completed application forms from Mrs. Menon, and distributed funds from the local account.
July 10th: Distributed scholarship applications forms for 2002-03 to the Chaitanya Yuvathiyara Sangha.
May 31st: Contributed 2000 Rs. towards the tuition for Shivraj and Suhasini to attend the Sunshine School in Ashwathnagar, Bangalore.
April 10th: Contributed 2000 Rs. towards tuition for a Summer Camp for the children at Ragigudde and 2 other schools. Activities included public speaking and presentations.
February 6th: Visited the school at Ragigudde. About 10-15 students attend the evening class from 7:00-8:30pm after domestic work. Inquired about goals and purpose of classes. The current aim is to complete 10th standard or above and pursue some vocational training. Not much future or hope in domestic work (low pay and long hours). Made an initial grant of 2500 Rs. for books and other supplies.
January 24th: Met Geeta Menon and discussed the work being conducted by Chaitanya Yuvathiyara Sangha. Was introduced to the teachers and students. Asked for a proposal, description of current projects, and a budget.
